Rainbow Sandals Sales Rep
MORE THAN 50 YEARS OF SURF CULTURE
Rainbow Sandals isn’t just another footwear brand. It’s a company that has been part of surf culture for more than five decades — and a brand Mike and Madluc have proudly represented for over 20 years.
The Rainbow story began in Southern California in the early 1970s when surfer Jay “Sparky” Longley set out to make a better sandal. Tired of seeing broken sandals discarded on the beach, Sparky began experimenting with rubber, straps, adhesives and construction methods from his garage.
With a sewing machine, a few basic materials and around $200 to get started, the foundation for Rainbow Sandals was born.
By 1974, Rainbow Sandals had officially taken shape in San Clemente, California. What started as one surfer trying to build a sandal that wouldn’t fall apart would eventually become one of the most recognizable footwear brands in surf and beach culture.
20+
YEARS TOGETHER
MADLUC + RAINBOW
For Madluc, Rainbow Sandals is much more than another name on a line sheet. It’s a relationship that goes back more than 20 years.
Over those two decades, Mike has represented Rainbow through changing trends, changing retail environments and multiple generations of customers — while the foundation of the relationship has remained the same.
Great products. Great retailers. Strong relationships. And a genuine connection to surf culture.
Madluc has always believed that good sales representation goes far beyond putting products on shelves. It’s about understanding the brand, knowing the territory, supporting independent retailers and building relationships that last.
After more than two decades together, there’s a lot of history between Mike, Madluc and Rainbow Sandals — and we’re proud to continue representing the brand today.
BUILT FOR THE LONG HAUL
Rainbow’s philosophy has always been refreshingly simple: make a great sandal and make it last.
Sparky spent years refining the construction, experimenting with different densities of sponge rubber, improving straps and stitching, and developing sandals designed to become more comfortable as they’re worn.
That focus on durability ultimately became part of Rainbow’s larger Repair, Reuse, Recycle philosophy.
Long before sustainability became a marketing buzzword, Rainbow was focused on making products that didn’t need to be thrown away after a season.
STILL ROOTED IN SURF
Rainbow has grown a long way from Sparky’s original Southern California garage, but its connection to the surf community has remained at the center of the brand.
Independent surf shops and specialty retailers helped build Rainbow, and those relationships continue to matter.
That’s also why the partnership with Madluc has always been such a natural fit.
Madluc was built around surf, skate, snow and the independent retailers that support those cultures. We believe in representing brands we understand, products we believe in and businesses we want to see succeed.
MORE THAN A BRAND.MORE THAN 20 YEARS OF PARTNERSHIP.
From San Clemente to surf shops across the country, Rainbow Sandals has spent more than 50 years building something that lasts. Madluc is proud to have been part of that story for more than two decades — and we’re looking forward to what’s next.
